Frisson Ensemble is a dynamic group of rising young classical stars. They are all graduates of top music schools, including Julliard, Curtis, and Yale. Already showcased in such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, Frisson performs with different combinations of string and wind instruments. In addition to traditional classics, expect to hear a Celtic suite and their favorite offering, Gabriel’s Oboe from the film The Mission.

Russian virtuoso pianist, Ilya Yakushev, with many awards and honors to his credit, continues to astound and mesmerize audiences in major venues on multiple continents. Ilya studied at the Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music in St. Petersburg, Russia, before coming to the U.S. to attend the Mannes College of Music. He has performed with internationally acclaimed orchestras including the San Francisco Symphony, Boston Pops, and St. Petersburg Philharmonic. American Record Guide counts him as “one of the very best young pianists performing today.”

Saxophonist Rob Verdi will share the stage with the Palm Springs High School Orchestra as they present Saxational--The Next Generation. Audiences will see an impressive collection of rare and unusual saxophones, everything from a tiny curved sopranino to a giant 6 ft. contrabass sax. Rob and the Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Jason Powell, PS High School’s Director of Strings, will explore an eclectic mix of music including swing era classics and popular jazz standards along with trendy pop, rock, movie and R&B.

JACQUELYNNE FONTAINE | Monday, April 8, 2019 | 7:30pm

Jacquelynne Fontaine is a rising young American opera star who also happens to hold the pageant title of Miss California 2007. She earned a master’s degree in Vocal Arts from the Thornton School of Music at USC. She plays the soprano, Carlotta, in a new staging of Phantom of the Opera, and has had leading roles in La Traviata, The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute. She was a sensation locally at Opera in the Park in 2017 and was a First Place Winner in the Palm Springs Opera Guild talent competition.
