Palm Springs Concerts begins its 2026 Season with a return visit by one of America’s premier pianists, Misha Dichter. He was the high-lighter of PS Concerts’ 1989-90 Season. Dichter will be on stage at the Richards Center on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

The legendary pianist’s personal and professional history is fascinating. In 1945, he was born in Shanghai to Polish-Jewish parents who fled Europe during World War II. Soon after, he arrived with his family in Los Angeles and at five years of age he began piano lessons.

His early work and practice showed great promise and in his teens he was admitted to Julliard. While enrolled as a student there, he won the Silver medal in the 1966 International Tchaikovski Competition in Moscow, which helped launch his stellar international career.

In 1967 he performed the Tchaikovski Piano Concerto at Tanglewood, with the Boston Symphony which was broadcast nationally by NBC. In 1968 he performed the same concerto with Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic. That was followed by appearances in Berlin, Amsterdam, London and with many major orchestras in the United States.

In 2009 he was honored with the “Grand Prix International” for his recording of Liszt’s piano transcriptions on the Phillips label.

At Julliard he met his future wife, Cipa Glazman, and with her he has performed and recorded many long over-looked and neglected two-piano and piano-four-hand works.

In recent years he has had multiple surgeries on his hands to allow him to continue performing, and while recovering he has taught master classes at Aspen, Eastman, Harvard, Julliard and Yale.

Misha is a cigar aficionado, preferring the Honduran brand, Sancho Panza Glorioso.

He has a Springer Spaniel named Thunder, an important part of his life and career.

Please note: All sales final. No refunds.
