It promises to be an afternoon of stunning trios featuring Palm Springs own superstar cellist, John Walz. Led by Walz, the trio includes clarinetist Eric Schultz and pianist Timothy Durkovic, each one a celebrated classical artist.
John Walz is well known for his virtuosity and elegant musicianship. A student of the legendary French cellist Pierre Fournier, Walz has appeared as soloist with more than 150 symphony orchestras in his stellar career. Walz is a member of Palm Springs Concert’s board of directors.
Joining Walz as part of the trio is Timothy Durkovic, a piano virtuoso in every sense of the word. Winner of the 1996 Los Angeles Liszt Competition, Durkovic also claims honors from many other prestigious competitions, including the Beverly Hills Auditions, the San Diego Duo Piano Competition and the Carmel Music Society Competitions. He also won the IBLA Grand Prize Duo Award in Sicily and has been named the outstanding Masters Graduate from the Thornton School of Music at USC.
Rounding out the trio is clarinetist Eric Schultz, acclaimed for his concerto performances, inventive chamber collaborations and trailblazing interpretations of new music. He maintains an active concert schedule with orchestras across the globe and can be seen and heard on Netflix and National Public Radio. Dubbed a “superstar muse” because of his collaborations with some of today’s most innovative composers, Schultz is a driving force in shaping the future of the clarinet. He has premiered more than 50 solo and chamber works, many written and performed for him.
